Hickory Creek PC-2 Inspection

The Hickory Creek is currently "out-of-service" for a required Amtrak PC-2 inspection. This is also sometimes referred to as a "rollout" inspection, since the trucks are disconnected and rolled out from under the car body. This is different than the annual Amtrak inspection. This inspection is required 200,000 miles after the initial 40-year inspection or 10 years after the 40-year inspection regardless of the mileage. The next inspection of this type will be due when the car has logged 350,000 miles and then again at 500,000 miles. The same 10 year criteria also applies.

During this inspection, the car is jacked and the trucks are rolled out so that a complete visual inspection can be performed on the running gear. This is an opportunity to review how the truck components are wearing and make any necessary adjustments to the running gear to prevent costly repairs later.

We expect this process to take a few weeks and we will share photos along the way.
